Anna Sui and Tarina Tarantino!!!

This was the gorgeous box of goodies I mentioned yesterday that my gorgeous friend, Tina, gave to me as a belated birthday gift when she was visiting recently. You have NO IDEA how excited I was when I saw the Tarina Tarantino and Anna Sui boxes! I have been dyyyyiiinnnggg to try some of these and see how pretty they are in the flesh.

This is the Anna Sui shadow in shade 900. It's really pretty and pearly. I think I will be using this as an all over lid colour. How adorable are the compacts?

Speaking of adorable compacts, check THIS out!

Are there even words for these pink, sparkly, gorgeous delights? They were just as pretty in person as I imagined they would be. I love the little bags they come in as well. There is no way they're not living in those bags forever! I want the sparkles to stay nice and shiny even if they're living in my makeup bag! I'm going to be so happy every time I open them. Tina gave me two shades in these.

This is Peacock Pearl. It's super pigmented and I'm thinking I'll use it as a crease colour, for graduated smoky looks or as a liner. I think it will be gorgeous layered over an irridescent green pencil liner underneath my eye.

This one is called Ribbon. It came out a lot more sheer than I was expecting. I was a little disappointed at first but now I've decided it's a good thing. During the autumn and winter months I'm thinking this will make a really lovely all over lid colour with a little charcoal on the outer corner and a deep plum colour pushed into the lips. Preeeetty.

I'm so looking forward to getting stuck into these colours!

Lovely Gifts

There is nothing like an unexpected belated birthday present! A gorgeous friend was briefly visiting a couple of weeks ago from New York and brought a little box of birthday goodies for me! I loved the little tag inside the box. There really isn't any delight like those that are unexpected!

I will post about the rest of the goodies soon, but I wanted to show you this as it's just too cute for words!
It's such a pretty necklace! I love it! I think I'm going to wear it for the first time this weekend! It's on a really long chain and will look really nice with some jeans and a top while I'm at the London Zoo. But check out how cute the back of the charms are!

Adorable! She knws me so well! I'm a sucker for stuff like that!

NOTD - Nails Inc Dover St markets

Please excuse the messy application. This was a serious rush job as I was trying to fly out of the door. But I live the rich bruised plum shade. A few days later it's looking a little bit shabby but I think that's more in the application as opposed to the product. In saying that, these aren't my fave varnishes when it comes to longevity. I bought this as part of a mini set on special at Boots ages ago. I love smaller sized nail varnishes. I never get through regular sized ones before they go all gloopy. This is perfect.

                                              (pic courtesy of TheDailyChic.com)
As you probably know, I temp in an office in Soho when I'm not doing makeup. Yesterday a very glamorous blonde stumbled into our office looking for one of the other offices in our little building. She looked awfully familiar so my colleague had her come in and tell us what she's been up to. It was none other than Michelle Dewberry from The Apprentice! She's so friendly and got to chatting about her latest project, TheDailyChic.com.

I'm already hooked on this site. It took me about 30 seconds to be completely on board. Sweet Lips and My Fave Way to Get Them

I'm LOVING the Lush Sweet Lips pot! They have a few different flavours but the smell of vanilla and chocolate is too much to resist. This little pot is going to last me forever as I hardly use any for each use.

I like to put this sugar scrub on before I head upstairs to bed at night. I put it on in the morning once and went down the street only to be harrased by a bee flying around my face for 15 minutes. Argh! I think it liked the sweet smell. So this is a night time ritual for me now. I wait till I've brushed my teeth then massage a little into my lips followed up with some yummy coconut flavoured lip balm. I wake up in the mornings with totally kissable lips. Now I just need to find someone to do the honours for me!

You can get these at any Lush store for £4.50 or head to their website.

Youthful Essence

youthful essence

I’ve had this for a while now and I’ve been trying to figure out how I feel about it so haven’t done my post. To be fair, I’m not a fan of scrubs or microdermabrasion, etc. I hate the idea of digging holes into my skin with sharp scrubby bits. Whenever I’ve exfoliated I’ve always liked to use a lactic acid based mask or something more gentle.

So it was with a bit of trepidation that I embarked on this trial. My skin is really delicate and fragile so I took it very easy. You’re supposed to use the special scrub and one of the scrubbing pads attached to the main machine. The crystals in the scrub are incredibly fine so it didn’t feel too rough. In saying that, I have suffered from an annoying little breakout ever since. I suspect that has a lot to do with all the stress I’ve been under lately as well. It’s not something I would keep doing regularly. Maybe two or three times a year. My skin just isn’t for scrubs. After a scrub I’ll give my face a cleanse with the warming cleanser that comes in the kit and then use the massage attachment to massage in the serum. I suspect the massage attachment is actually for your feet but I love to get a really nice facial massage with it to work in the serum.

The kit comes with the main attachment, a pumice, a massager, a body sized pad, a small round pad, a small triangular shaped pad and a soft bristle brush. It’s this brush that has got me a bit addicted to the machine. With the whole kit being only £49.95 I feel like it’s a budget alternative to the covetable Clarisonic. In all fairness, I’ve not tried a Clarisonic. It’s not for a lack of want, I’m just one of the many that doesn’t have over £100 to spend on a cleansing tool at the moment! I use my regular oil cleanser and work it in using the brush. It feels lovely. My skin definitely does feel fresher and is very smooth and youthful having been using it for a while now.

For under £50 it’s not a bad buy. If this is something you fancy, you can have a look at their website and order from here. I’m still a little bit on the fence with the actual products and the scrub but I do like the cleansing tool.

NOTD – Ciate Dangerous Affair

ciate dangerous affair

This was one of the magazine freebies this month. Off the top of my head I think it was Marie Claire. I’ve never used a Ciate polish before and I really liked this one. It seriously helps that the bottle is so cute. It went on really easily and gave nice coverage – which is what I like out of a nail varnish. I’ve heard mixed reviews on these. I think I might have picked one of their better ones. It’s wearing well with a quick coat of Barry M top coat over two layers of varnish. I’m really liking it!

Tresemme Naturals

I've been trying out the new Tresemme Naturals products for a few weeks now. Wow, these bottles of shampoo and conditioner are good value for money! I need two hands to pick them up in the shower! They're too heavy otherwise! It's a whole £5.39 for 900ml!!! Bargain! It's totally perfect for a family bathroom.
I've never tried Tresemme shampoo or conditioner before and I've got loads of friends that swear by it so I was looking forward to it. I've been alternating with my Lovea and A'kin shampoo and conditioner as although my hair is dehydrated all the time, it's also very fine and gets weighed down easily. I find this has been a great combination and I've had some really nice compliments on the condition of my hair despite the fact that I'm super overdue for a haircut!

The conditioner needs a really thorough rinse out otherwise it will end up leaving your hair a bit greasy. I've been told this is becaause of the nourishing avocado oil in it.

Why are these called Naturals? They have zero parabens, lower sulphates and it's silicone free. Perfect for lovers of a Brazilian Blowdry that don't want to spend a fortune on products after forking out on the treatment itself. A lot of people say that SLS in a shampoo makes their head itchy. I kind of feel like my scalp is a little more irritated using this product! maybe I'm over stimulating it with the intensive rinse I give it after the conditioner. I'm not sure. I don't really buy into the whole SLS debate to be honest. Not after seeing my ex's special medicated shampoo prescribed by his Dr for his sensitive skin. The first ingredient was SLS!

Meanwhile, I'm LOVING the mousse! It's so lightweight and really makes my hair look a lot more voluminous! I've come to need the hairspray on a daily basis as well. If I spray it lightly then work it through with my fingers a little and a light brush it gives a natural and long lasting hold to my hair all day. I like to pop a bit in at the roots when I have my hair down. On the days I do that my friends ask me what I've been doing to my hair as it's looking really good. Result!

Obviously these aren't completely natural. They've got a small amount of organic oils in them that make them more natural than the rest of the Tresemme range. However, more natural is better than less so I'd definitely recommend getting yourself down to a Superdrug near you to give it a try. My fave out of all four products? The mousse!

Being Content - Dr Alkaitis Facial - Wahanda Special!

Wahanda did a MobDeal some time ago now in collaboration with Being Content for a one hour Dr Alkaitis facial. It was a whopper of a deal so who was I to resist? Months upon months later I finally managed to book it. This couldn't have come at a better time. When I stumbled through the doors of the gorgeous store in Marylebone I was a wired up ball of stress. An hour of having my face treated was just what the Dr (please excuse the pun) ordered.

This is where I need to own up to having been a bit of a naughty blogger. With so much going on lately I hadn't looked up anything about the products or the treatment at all. I just launched into the gorgeous little store, ranted about how stressed I was before being shown downstairs to a fabulous little treatment room. There was the most comfy looking bed with blankets aplenty. I'm not sure if I've ever undressed so quickly in my life. Wild horses couldn't have held me back from diving under the covers and closing my eyes.

The treatment is designed to look after inflamed and sensitive skin. It sure did! With all the stress and with my eating being really bad of late (way too much dairy) my skin was tired, haggard and broken out. I was started off with a deep cleanse. It was so cooling and luxurious. Every time a new product went on my face I thought, "Oooh, this smells like milk and honey! Yum!". I was nearly right! The products that were used were all based on goats milk and manuka honey. Two of my favourite natural ingredients to use for home made skin remedies!

The other thing I loved about the treatment were the luxurious warm towels that were wrapped around my face from time to time and then gently used to remove products. It felt beyond divine. So much nicer than a scrappy old cotton pad! There was a lot of facial massage during the treatment. It was just what I needed. My skin was literally loving it. I kind describe how stressful things have been lately and when I left I was starting to feel like a normal person again. My skin has really felt the benefits as well. The therapist used manuka honey for the extraction and she also mentioned that she thought I was using a product with mineral oils in it as my skin seemed a little congested. I'm still using the moisturiser in question as it's one I've nearly finishede testing for review but in the days following the treatment the break outs have really calmed down and my skin is generally looking a lot healthier.

I can't recommend this treatment enough. And the store. The girls at Being Content are so lovely and helpful and sweet. I can't wait to go back for more treatments. When my spending ban is over Being Content is one of the first stores I'm going to hit! I was coveting so many of the delicious treats on the shelves!

For more Wahanda mob deals click this link or go the right sidce panel on my site and click through the widget.

Let me know if you go! I'd love to know what you think!

NOTD – Barry M Instant Effects

barryminstanteffects

How handy is this!? I used it over my Models Own Turkish Delight manicure as it was looking a bit tired and I didn’t have time to start again from scratch. It does create some shrinkage on the actual manicure underneath but it’s pretty great.

Here is a video on how quickly it works as well!

It’s best over light or bright colours.

Photoshoot Time

A0002263

A little while ago now I did a shoot with a photographer I hadn’t worked with before, Aubrey Fagon. There were two looks for the day and it was all a wee bit stressful when the model had transportation issues and was two hours late.

First up was to be a black and white look. When Aubrey sent me the pics he had decided to keep them in colour as he felt they looked stronger. This was the second time he’d tried this look out. The first time the makeup artist had left the shoot early after not getting along with the model and apparently her work wasn’t quite up to scratch.

Chenade_0034 The two looks for the day were quite different but with our schedule being so far behind I had to do a super quick change on the hair and makeup. A0002353 So there was a lot of mousse to slick back hair, Nars Body Glow to create a sheen on the skin and some Kryolan greasepaint in a shade of green over the original eye colour followed up with some green powder eyeshadows and MAC Brick-ola lipstick. The plan was to do some shots with the blue gel to really make the brick coloured lips come out.

I have a few more fun projects coming up. I’ll show you pics as soon as they come through. That is, if you like this kind of thing. Let me know.

Kisses,
